Behance
In order to create an online portfolio of my work for my Erasmus application, and also for my own professional development, I have set up a Behance profile showing some of my best works. Taking advantage of the newly painted studio for our exhibition, I hired a DSLR to take some images of my works here against the white backdrop. This is something that I hope to build on over the summer and following on next year.
Portobello Road Gin / analogue
The website for Portobello Road Gin came as a great inspiration for my work. The site incorporates illustration, photography and typography to create an old looking style with a modernized twist.
The website itself was created by Leeds based analogue. A design company that I was already a fan of prior to discovering this.
Visual Research
Choosing to a piece centered around plants I began to look botanical illustrations and watercolours for reference points. However as I also wanted to create something graphical I also looked into modern interpretations of these such as books, food packaging and branding.
Through doing my research on different plants that I could use, a couple that stood out to me coincidentally are the fundamental ingredients in both Gin and Tonic water. I therefore chose to run with the idea of using the Gin & Tonic drink as the overriding theme of piece. I hoped that this would provide an opportunity for relatability for the audience and help to attract their attention. I therefore went on to look at a lot of Gin based packaging and branding.
Group Editing
We did run into a number of technical problems when getting to the editing stage. This was mainly to do with hardrives not working. This therefore made issues with storing and organising all of our footage. After trying several different methods, cables and hardrives we did managed to get hold of hardrive that worked so we we’re able to begin organising and editing. However, getting this problem resolved did take a couple of weeks and meant having to get help off several different members of staff from different areas of college.

Font / Titles
To give our video a less formal feel, we decided to include some hand rendered font for the titles, credits etc. Zoe drew these up and converted them into Photoshop files so that they could be brought into Premier at the editing stage.
